Somewhere Else is just that, a space to publish work and ideas that don't belong Somewhere Normal. Because these ideas are hard to classify, we leave that job up to you by asking you to describe the work using the idea cloud.
What is this idea cloud?
The idea cloud is a list of words that other people have used to describe the pieces of work on Somewhere Else. The more times a word is used to describe a piece of work the bigger and brighter it gets. Simple.
If you click on one of the words, a new window opens listing all the articles attached to that word. The window looks like the image below:
Can I add my own ideas?
Yes. All the words in the cloud have been added by readers. Adding words, or 'tags' to articles helps other people to find articles. You add tags once you've read an article, by clicking the 'Tag this page' button at the top of every article. The button looks like this:
When you press it you get another window like this:
Just enter words, separated by spaces that you think describe the article. The words will then appear next to the article, and appear in the idea cloud.
Why should I do this?
Adding tags helps other people find work. By adding tags you are adding your opinions. The more diverse a range of opinions that feeds the idea cloud, the more links we make between the work and the people on the site.
If you want to find out more about tagging and the social web, a good place to start is wikipedia:
