About Me

Michael hates referring to himself in the third person and is studying an MA in Social Research (Sociology). He was a performance poet (he still writes occasionally), and is a musician (recently he returned to modernist composition and experimental forms after many years of making multi-genre 'popular' music). His research interests encompass the notion that spatiality, modernity and the 'crisis of masculinity' in the West have resulted in higher suicidality among men (approximately FOUR times as many men kill themselves as women). Oh yes, and he's pretty much interested in anything else under the sun...

Come come await the light of dawn
and winter chill
the breaking of first sunlight
on icy window spills

The warming tones of coffee notes
alighting on the nose
and winter morning chirruping
and winter morning crows

A whistle in the distance fading
as the morning blooms
then wakefulness comes drifting
like smoke-stacked chimney plumes

The herald of the morning light
delights in playing games
with water puddled on fresh grass
expectant of more rain

That first slurped taste
-the caffeine kick
that hits you in the heart
cannot compare to chilly air
that’s soaked up in the park (!)

A light brisk walk
the gentle breeze
the weeping willow trees
is tempting to be forsaken
for blanket huddled pleas

The morning wanes to noontime
its fading glamour spent
on furnishing the teeming land
the way it always meant (!)

Come come await the plight of dawn
and drink your fill
for soon arrives the chime of dusk
and everything is still.
